6 Things for Your Car's Emergency Kit
Sometimes adversity finds you through no fault of your own. In the event your car breaks down and you’re left stranded in an unfamiliar place, it can be absolutely essential that you have a proper emergency kit outfitted with the right items for the situation. Here at Army Navy Outdoors, we’d like to share 6 items that should be in your car at all times in the event of an emergency.
- Medical First Aid Kit- This one’s a no-brainer. If someone in your party is injured, this can be a lifesaver. We do recommend adding Israeli bandages, CAT, or our complete trauma blow-out kit to supplement this first aid kit.
- 100 Feet of 550 Cord- A versatile product that’s handier than carrying rope. Use it to secure your trunk, substitute for shoelaces, or any number of other applications.
- 250 Lumen Flashlight- Adjustable with flash mode. This is the same light we sold on Air Force bases to use on the flight line. It’s a good, bright light that uses AA batteries and is also magnetic so you can stick it to the side of your car if needed.
- 6 Cyalume Glow Sticks- Safer than flairs. If your car is broken down, mark it off to signal that you’re in distress and in need of help.
- Mora S/S Swedish Steel Knife- This is the best knife anywhere near its price. We wanted to use stainless since we know it may be stored for a long time or used and put back over and over with little or no additional care. It will clip to the outside of the bag so that it is easy to get to.
- Adventure Medical Sol Thermal Blanket- One of the best thermal blankets on the market. It will not tear, it has an orange inside for signaling and can easily be repacked.
