Affordable Body Armor

Bullet Safe Vest and Plates

Bulle Safe Vest Army Navy Outoors

Here at ANO we have started carrying body armor from a rather new company called Bullet Safe. They have been around for a few years now and their approach to making and marketing body armor is different from your typical armor distributor. We have been searching for a good tactical bullet proof vest and plates to be used by both entery level law enforement and emergency prepardness minded people.

First off, all their armor is made with the same ceramic of alumina and polyethylene materials as other high end armors are (i.e. ESAPI and SAPI). Bullet Safe’s body armor is also tested at the same facilities and by the same people who inspect and certify otherhigh end tactical body armor. Now though their armor is of the same make and certifications, it is much more affordable than other armor. They do this by making a very simple designed carrier whose sole purpose is to carry your armor. The vest comes with level IIIA soft armor and a plate pocket on the front and the back to hold their level IIIA ceramic plates. When used in conjunction with one another the plates and the soft armor offer a combinedlevel VI protection package that blasts the competition in price.

Let’s get specific for a moment. The vest weighs in from 5.2-6.4 pounds depending on the size without the plates, and sells at a very low price of $299. The plates weigh in at 5.65 pounds a piece, and they sell at only $169.99 each. Now, you’re probably wondering how Bullet Safe can offer ESAPI quality plates at the price of a steel plate and a soft armor carrier for them at such an affordable rate. Well like I said these guys are a relatively new company and are marketing specifically to the basic security officer and to those out there who just like to be ready for any emergency situation. The vest doesn’t cost as much as a higher end vest for several reasons. First, its written right on their website that Bullet Safe makes less profit on their products in order to offer the quality to the base end of the industry’s customers.  We have spoken to them in detail and they are working hard to even save $5.00 here and there.  Second, the vest cover does not come with all the bells and whistles. There are no quick releases, M.O.L.L.E. webbing, or anything fancy. It is a simple, comfortable platform that gets the job done without your wallet taking a beating. Also, though it isn’t exactly a feather weight vest that you may be able to get from a higher end company, the vest doesn’t cost the 6, 7, or $800 dollars that said company wants for it.  Bullet Safe has really done agood job of matching quality with a more all around affordable price. Outside you clothing with or without the plates inserted for protection on the job. Another way is to put the vest on under your uniform or outer shirt. It is slim and comfortable enough to allow for this option. Finally, let’s say you’re one of those guys that wants to have the option of having the extra protection of plates but you don’t necessarily want to wear them all day or don’t need to. Easy solution. All you have to do is wear the soft armor vest while on patrol and if the need for that extra protection arises, simply have the plates staged in a separate plate carrier and slip it on or if you are wearing the vest as an outer simply slip the plates in the pocket.   This allows you to never have to leave the protection of your armor while still adding more protection to meet or exceed the threat.

The Armour vest carrier is designed to be worn one of three ways. One way is to just where the carrier outside you clothing with or without the plates inserted for protection on the job. Another way is to put the vest on under your uniform or outer shirt. It is slim and comfortable enough to allow for this option. All you have to do is wear the soft armor vest while on patrol and if the need for that extra protection arises, simply have the plates staged in a separate plate carrier and slip it on or, have your partner slide the plates in your vest pockets. This allows you to never have to leave the protection of your armor while still adding more protection to meet or exceed the threat.
