Escape and Survive
It’s the stuff of nightmares. You hear a frantic knocking on your door, waking you from a sound sleep. Your gut says don’t go near the door, but you just woke up and your better judgement has stayed in bed. You feel obliged to be helpful, so you make the mistake of opening the door to a total stranger and suddenly you’ve been overpowered and are now lying on the floor, restrained and gagged, helplessly awaiting your fate as your home is getting pillaged by an attacker whose motives are unknown. What would you do in this situation?
Believe it or not, things like this happen to unsuspecting homeowners, kids walking home from school, and people getting off of late-night work shifts every single day. It’s not just something you would only see in the latest Liam Neeson movie. And many times, victims who are restrained can end up beaten or even killed.
There are ways of getting out of these types of unfortunate, potentially life-threatening situations. There are precautions you can take to avoid putting yourself in a position to be victimized, and measures available to evade and escape various hostage and kidnapping situations as well.
On Saturday July 18th from 3-5:30pm, Army Navy Outdoors will be hosting a special class about Escaping & Evading. This class is an introduction to breaking restraints, lock picking and escape methods. We will review tactics that a criminal uses, identify your window of escape and how to escape. The instructor is from Sigma3 Survival and has an extensive military background. The knowledge you will get from this class is invaluable. Checkout our meetup.com page and sign up today. We truly look forward to seeing everybody at Army Navy Outdoors on July 18th for this great learning opportunity. http://www.meetup.com/Jacksonville-Emergency-and-Family-Preparedness/
