US Army Gets Updated Uniforms

Posted by Peter on 9th Jun 2015

The United States Army is ready to start rolling out a three phase campaign to introduce a new camo uniform, and it will start showing up next month. This change won’t happen overnight, and is part of a program that will see transition over the next 4 years.

This extended rollout is done methodically to help save the U.S. Army and its soldiers money. From now until the end of September 2019, three different uniforms will be considered authorized uniform patterns:- Gray/green universal combat camo

- Flame resistant multicam (standard issue since 2010)- New pattern combat camoSoldiers won’t all be wearing the same uniforms at the same time, even in the same unit. Initially, any combination of the three authorized uniforms will be allowed. This is not a new occurrence in the Army as far as uniform changes go. Also, commanding officers will not be allowed to force soldiers to purchase replacement uniforms just to match the unit.

The accessories to the uniform will also see some changes. Darker boots, belts, and tan t-shirts will also become available to soldiers in units across the country in the coming months. According to forecasts, there is not expected to be a significant increase in cost for a full combat uniform, consisting of pants, jacket, hat, shirt, belt and undershorts, which currently stands at around $100. The new uniform patterns will become standard issue and handed out in all clothing bags starting in January. What does this mean for you, loyal customers of Army Navy Outdoors?
