Military issue Army level 1 base layer is the staple issue and first defense against cold.   Manufactured by Milliken a well kown military brand, they are moisture wicking keeping you both warm and dry.  Warm smug and made to layer but can be used at your comfort level. We found they run large in general.  This is the official issue GEN III ECWCS thermal base layer light weight, packagble, comfortable and warm.  You will not find a better thermal base layer on the market for all around temperature controll.
