The Beyond Clothing PL5 Vest or “Happy Vest” is a piece of military-issue gear used in the Extended Cold Weather Clothing kit known as the Protective Combat Uniform (PCU) Level 7 system.  Issued normally only to special forces, it is known for being incredibly lightweight, packable and warm.

The Level 5 Happy vest is made to easily be warn as a stand alone vest or part of its system without too many bulk. Its high warmth retention, ability to get wet and retain its use and packability has made it useful to always carry.

• Military Issue:  PCU systems are specifically designed and issued for the U.S. military, including the USMC (United States Marine Corps).  Built to meet rigorous military standards for performance and durability.
• Part of a Layering System: The PL5 vest, as part of PCU Level 7, designed to be an outer insulation layer in a comprehensive clothing system. 
• Fit: Because it is the 5th layer, this means it's often oversized to accommodate other layers underneath, including body armor. This is important to consider for sizing. Feel free to size down. 
• Synthetic down-like insulation that is wind and water-resistant made to be compressible for easy packing and dry quickly.
