The Extreme Cold Weather N-1B Mukluk Boot was designed for the USAF to be weather resistant, worn in snow, cold and muck in tough climates.  The idea was to combine a winter rubber boot with a gaiter to keep pant legs and feet warm and dry.  Made of weather-resistant cotton canvas duck with a thick rubber sole and brass zipped to make them easy to put on.  To maximize your warmth, use the Mukluk wool liners sold separately.  Note they are Sized to be used with liners, if you are not using liners it would be necessary to wear thick wool socks or size down.
