USMC Issue FILBE Rucksack, Used
The Military Rucksack USMC FILBE (Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment) was designed to be the standard issue upgrade for a Marines load carry system and able to use in conjunction with body armor. Its popularity has also grown to become a great bush craft backpack in civilian life. The big improvement in this pack was a better, more comfortable way to transport heavy loads for active field use.
The Marine Corps issue FILBE backpack system has a more conventional internal frame with a large quantity of structural back padding and support. The shoulder and heavy-duty waist belt/kidney pad are adjustable to almost any size. The sustainment pouches may be used on the side of the pack or the front when using the hydration carriers on the sides. The USMC FILBE Military Rucksack is also designed to carry the smaller 3-day backpack on the hood for a complete carry system.

FAQ
What's the main purpose of the FILBE?
The USMC FILBE (Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment) rucksack serves as the primary, large-capacity modular system with the rucksack being the main unit that is issued to Marines. Its design is to be adapatable for mission specific set ups with its flexible large MOLLE on the main bag while the frame and bag prioritizes the ability to carry a large capacity. Weight distrabution and comfort was vital in the design and the reason for it to replace the former ILBE. The entire FILBE system contains a selection of pouches and hydration that work together not only the main and assult backpack.
What features make it durable?
Several factors make the FILBE highly durable. One is its modular design allows all of the components including the shoulder straps, hip belt, frame and main bag to be replaced or repaired easily. The durable material is also made of 1000-denier CORDURA® ripstop nylon to withstand demanding use.
Where do I place the Sustainment pouches?
It is common to see images with sustainment pouches on the side of the rucksack. The military standard however is to place them in front allowing hydration pouches or a carrier to be on the side of the bag. Either is fine depending on your use.
What weight can the FILBE handle?
It is designed to carry up to 125 lbs of gear and has a 81-liter capacity. The hip belt doesnt come in sizes like small, medium, and large it is adjustable to create a "one size fits all" pack for the USMC.
