The Level 6 is the rain layer of the ECWCS Gen III system is a hard shell layer that blocks wind and water and lets your clothing layers underneath keep you warm and breath.
What we like is the two-layer GORE-TEX that is built on Paclite technology cutting about half the bulk from the older generation. This allows it to stuff into a cargo pocket and also be less stiff than the older shells. This also make it more quite.
Stay waterproof with seam sealed stitching. Other features you will notice are zippered pass-through openings let you reach the pockets of your fleece or uniform underneath without unzipping the whole jacket in the rain. The hood stows into a hide-away collar when the weather clears, and the two-way front zipper opens from the bottom so you can sit or drive without riding up.
Genuine U.S. Army issue in Scorpion W2 OCP with near infrared signature reduction. Good in the deer stand, or for any use. This is a jacket that hates to be turned back into CIF.
Features & Specs
- Two-layer GORE-TEX laminate, seam sealed through every stitch line. Water stays out at the seams, which is where most rain jackets fail first.
- Built on GORE-TEX Paclite technology. Roughly half the bulk of Gen I and Gen II Gore-Tex, so it stuffs in a cargo pocket instead of eating a third of your ruck.
- Waterproof, windproof, and breathable. Sweat vapor moves out while rain stays on the outside, so you're not soaked from the inside after an hour of work.
- Stowable visored hood with hide-away collar. Zip it into the collar when the weather clears and you're wearing a normal jacket.
- Hood back adjustment tab and front cord lock. Cinch it down and the hood stays in place with your head instead of blocking your peripheral vision.
- Two pass-through chest openings / vents. Reach the pockets of clothing underneath without opening the shell in a downpour and also serves as vent to let out heat.
- Non-freezing two-way front zipper with double storm flap (inner zipper, outer hook and loop). Zip from the bottom to sit or drive, and the flap keeps wind off the zipper track.
- Elastic cuffs with hook and loop tabs. Seal them over gloves or open them up to dump heat.
- Elastic drawcord hem. Stops wind from getting up under the shell when it's blowing sideways.
- Layers over ECWCS Levels 1 through 5. Cut with the room to go over the Level 3 fleece without binding at the shoulders.
- Color: Scorpion W2 OCP and Multicam
- NSN: varies by size, OCP jacket series 8415-01-641-XXXX (PGC 04051)
