Q&A
Are these genuine military issue MREs?
No. MRE Star makes them to military spec and sells them to federal, state, and local agencies. If you want genuine GI issue, we carry those too.
Why do they come in a commercial box?
Military-marked cases are reserved for government contracts. Retail stock ships in a commercial box. Same brown pouch meals inside.
How fresh are they?
Freshly made. MRE Star produces year round, so these don’t sit in a warehouse for years like surplus can.
Which menu will I get?
A single case ships as Menu A or Menu B, depending on stock. The 2-Pack ships one of each. Each case has 6 entrees, 2 of each.
Can I pick my entrees or my menu?
No. We pull by stock to get cases out fast.
Are heaters included?
Yes, one flameless ration heater per meal. Add a little water to the fill line, slide the entree in, and it’s hot in about 10 to 12 minutes.
Do I need water?
Only for the heater. The food is fully cooked and can be eaten cold right out of the pouch.
How many calories?
About 1,200 per meal on average.
How long do they last?
Store them cool and they’ll last years. Heat is what kills shelf life, so skip the garage attic and the truck bed in July.
How do these compare to your GI issue MREs?
GI MREs are the real military ration, sold as surplus with an inspection date. MRE Star meals are built the same way, freshly made, and sold in a commercial box.
